Network company Cisco found leaks in Cisco's own network devices through the shared documents of the CIA, posted on Wikileaks.

The leaks have been found in the Cisco Cluster Management Protocol (CMP). This CMP processes code into Cisco IOS.

Cisco IOS is used by the company to work on firewalls, routers and other devices. When a person takes advantage of the leak, a device can be fully controlled. Anyone can take advantage of the leak by starting up a Telnet-session and sending different CMP-specific Telnet-options. Many devices could be attacked through this procedure and that's why Cisco is currently working on an update to solve the problem.

To protect a device from attacks, users can disable Telnet until updates are carried out.
