China and Australia have agreed on the use of cyberspionage. Both countries will not carry out any form of cyber spionage on the other country. The agreement focused mainly on not stealing intellectual property or company secrets.

A reason to set up an agreement was a cyber attack launched on a Australian meteorological bureau. Australia still holds China responsible for this attack. Another reason to agree is the recent increase of cyber attacks such as the attack on the Democratic Party of the U.S.

China signed a similar contract with the U.S. in 2015. Cyber spionage were not in that agreement, but the agreement focused mainly on intellectual property and company secrets.
