Cloudflare offers products and services to over 5 million companies in the area of cyber attacks. Cloudfare offers services such as preventing these websites from going offline when they are victims of cyber attacks. The dataleak could have had a huge impact on Cloudflare's business.
However, Cloudflare has stated that the leaks have been repaired. Cloudflare doesn't expect anyone to have taken advantage of the leaks. The problem was originally found by Google researcher Travis Ormandy, who gained access to several sorts of information like cookies and passwords by simply downloading the data.
Many different companies who use Cloudflare have sent requests to their users to change their account information. They are afraid the data has been accessed by others.
The leaks were found in the part of Cloudflare systems that determines the permission for each part of data. This system wasn't working properly and all of the data was made accessible. The information was apparently even available through Google and Bing, who have been notified. Several sources have stated that the data has been accessible for 5 months until it was discovered. An unofficial list with companies that might have been affected has been published.
Many famous American websites are also on the list. Companies such as Uber and Yelp use Cloudflare. More info on the bug can be found here.
